Orangeville Food Bank Hosts 2nd Annual Coldest Night of the Year
Orangeville, ON January 10th, 2019 – The Orangeville Food Bank (OFB) is gearing up to host the 2nd Annual Coldest Night of the Year. This year their goal is to raise $60,000 which will cover rent on their facility for an entire year. The event will take place Saturday, February 23rd with 2km, 5km and 10km walking route options.
The Coldest Night of the Year is a national event that began in 2011. Tens of thousands of Canadians step outside the warmth and comfort of home and shine a light of welcome and inclusion. It is a family friendly event that hopes to help the hungry and hurting in our community. Each step we take brings someone closer to safety, health and home, as together, we raise funds for the Orangeville Food Bank whose commitment and work transforms people’s lives.
To register for the event visit www.cnoy.org/orangeville. Registration is open and participants can sign up individually or as part of a team. Currently, the Orangeville Food Bank is looking for people to volunteer as well as corporate sponsors to help support this event. All are welcome to attend, children 0-10 are free. Walking routes and registration information can be found on the website. Hot chocolate and a warm, light meal will be served to all walkers and volunteers.

Time: 4 pm – Registration opens
- 5 pm – Opening Ceremonies
- 5:15 pm – Walk begins (all distances)
- 6 pm – Registration closes
- 6 pm – Meal service begins
- 8 pm – Route closes, meal service ends

The Orangeville Food Bank is a not-for-profit organization that provides emergency food and supplies to over 6000 people in Dufferin County. They are volunteer run and rely on food and monetary donations from our community. The Orangeville Food Bank provides a shopping model and point system allowing patrons to select their food and spread it over a month long period. They are a member of the Ontario Association of Food Banks, one of the organizations in the Food Banks Canada network.
